The Worx Safety Chat module lets you send real-time messages to individuals or groups directly inside the Worx Safety platform. You can share text, files, images, and videos without leaving the app, keeping project communication in one place alongside your safety documentation.
Open Chat from the main navigation menu. The chat screen is split into two panels: a conversation list on the left and the active conversation on the right. On mobile devices, these display one at a time -- tap a conversation to open it, then use the back arrow to return to the list.
To message someone directly, open the Chat page and look at the Contacts section below your existing conversations. Tap or click on a person's name to open a conversation with them. If you have messaged this person before, the existing conversation will open with your full history. If this is your first time messaging them, a new conversation is created automatically.
Which contacts you can see depends on your role:
You are automatically added as the group admin. Each member receives a notification that they have been added.
Groups can also be linked to a specific project or site. When a group is associated with a site, a link to that project appears in the chat header so members can quickly navigate to the relevant project details.
If you are a group admin, click the edit icon in the chat header to open group settings. From here you can:
Every change (name update, member added, member removed) posts a system notification inside the group so all members can see what happened.
Type your message in the input area at the bottom of the conversation and press Send (or hit Enter). Messages appear instantly for all participants via real-time updates -- there is no need to refresh the page.
Click the attachment icon next to the message input to attach a file. Supported file types include PDFs, images (including HEIC from iPhones, which are converted automatically), and videos. The maximum file size is 100 MB. You can send a file on its own or include a text message alongside it.
In the conversation, files display as follows:
You can react to any message with an emoji. Hover over (or long-press on mobile) a message to reveal the reaction options:
Clicking the same emoji again removes your reaction. Each person can have one reaction per message -- choosing a new emoji replaces your previous one. Reactions appear as small pills below the message showing the emoji, the count, and who reacted.
If you are not currently online when a new message arrives, you will receive an email notification with a link to open the conversation. To avoid inbox overload, email notifications are throttled to one per chat every 30 minutes -- you will not receive a separate email for every single message in a busy conversation.
You can control notifications on a per-conversation basis. Inside any conversation, open the Notification Settings (via the settings icon in the chat header) and toggle:
These settings only affect the selected conversation, so you can mute a noisy group while keeping alerts active for important one-to-one chats.
You can delete your own messages by clicking your message and selecting Delete. Deleted messages are removed from view for all participants. You cannot delete messages sent by other people.
At the top of the chat list, you can filter your conversations using the tabs:
Use the search bar to find a conversation or contact by name.
